Working safely at heights

Height Safety System Installation and Certification

Whether you are looking for a simple certification to a pre-existing height safety system or you’re looking for a new bespoke system designed for your specific needs, we have the solution. Enabling operators to efficiently travel and access all areas whilst working safely at height. Vertical Access has the understanding and experience of both installers and end-users to give you the confidence and trust we have in our workmanship. We are licensed and insured to design, install and inspect all aspects of height safety systems providing you with authentic certification for your records. We specialise in installing, inspecting and designing the following.

Rope Access Systems (Abseiling)

Rope access anchor systems or also known as work positioning systems, require high competency and specific training to use. It can be the most cost-effective solution to either working at height or to access otherwise impossible to reach areas even when balanced against the fact that the system is limited to only specially trained operators.

It is commonly known to be the most simple and least intrusive safe working method for you to provide for workers on your building.

Fall Arrest

In circumstances where a worker requires access at an exposed or live edge, an industry technique known as fall arrest needs to be implemented. Crucially this method does not prevent a worker from falling but alternatively arresting (stopping) the worker mid-air once they have effectively fallen before impacting another level.

Even though the workers fall is arrested via shock-absorbing methods, it should be understood that this is by far the least favourable system of protection. All said, in the appropriate application, this is still an approved method of access if all other safety access methods are not possible or practicable.

This system requires a high level of training and competency along with site-specific inductions.

Work Restraint

A work restraint system is effectively a form of leash that restricts the worker’s movement, allowing them to travel in only specified areas. These areas are specifically designed to prevent access over a live edge eliminating the possibility of a fall.

To guarantee these systems are used in the correct manner, they inherently require a significantly greater level of user competency.

They always require full system inductions prior to use to ensure they are used as safely as possible.

Fall Prevention

This is the greatest form of protection for workers. Ultimately eliminating risk to the worker by creating a physical barrier to harm. Examples of this method of height safety include guardrails, reinforced walkways and skylight reinforcement protection.

This method enables operators with basic to no height safety competence or experience to traverse and work safely at heights.

High-Level Access

Some solutions to problematic high-level access include designing and installing products such as modular rung ladders or fold-down ladders; these are robust, secure, and allow for safe and swift access to the elevated level required for many lines of maintenance personnel.
